Serve kids living in West Dallas, a community where most students do not finish high school. Our team focuses on impacting one West Dallas school through tutoring, serving at Saturday School, mentoring, providing classroom support, and helping with service projects and outreach.

INTERFAITH HOUSING COALITION (ihcdallas.org)

Help provide transitional housing and support for homeless families! Service opportunities include employment/budgeting mentors, assisting with apartment hosting, “Scrub Squad,” children’s dinners, the clothes closet, childcare, and tutoring.

SOUTH DALLAS TEAM / CORNERSTONE

Help provide much-needed services and build relationships throughout the South Dallas community. Volunteer opportunities include serving lunch to the homeless, helping in the clothing closet, providing a women’s Bible study, and connecting with kids.

CORNERSTONE CROSSROADS ACADEMY (cornerstonecrossroads.com)

Cornerstone Crossroads educates a small class of at-risk students from South Dallas with the goal of advancing their education and their opportunities. Volunteers can help us through tutoring, serving as physical fitness leaders, and chaperoning Fun Friday outings with the students.

BROTHER BILL’S HELPING HAND (www.bbhh.org)

Build meaningful relationships and encourage positive life change for approximately 700 households in West Dallas. Offers a free “Grocery Store,” various training classes (including ESL, nutrition, and computer skills), and Bible studies.

DALLAS PREGNANCY RESOURCE CENTER (dallasprc.com)

DPRC reaches out to women experiencing unplanned pregnancies, building relationships based on trust and understanding. The centers, located in strategic areas around Dallas, provide medical information about pregnancy, fetal development, pregnancy termination, post-abortion syndrome, and alternatives to abortion to help women make educated decisions. DPRC also provides clothing for those in need and chances to mentor women.

Readers 2 Leaders seeks to help all children in West Dallas read at or above grade level. Volunteers can engage with any or all of R2L’s efforts, which include reading intervention and tutoring with elementary and middle school students, maintaining a lending library, homework help after school, crafts, storytelling, training parents to help their children, and offering a speaker series to discuss literacy with the community.

Encourage inmates by exchanging letters with men and women in the faith-based dorms at Dawson State Jail.

MINISTRIES 101 (ministries101.org)

Disciple adult women prisoners in Dawson State Jail (near Downtown) who have accepted Christ and asked for discipleship. Requires training from the state of Texas, plus mentor training. Volunteers can help with regular Bible study or choose to mentor; mentors are paired with another mentor to meet with two inmates regularly for 6 to 9 months.

Exodus is a 20-unit apartment complex in East Dallas. Units are furnished for moms who have been released from prison and reunited with their kids. Volunteers can help prepare apartments for new residents, adopt and mentor a family, and provide Bible studies for the kids.

Renovate and restore homes in the West Dallas and South Dallas senior, low-income, and disabled communities. Besides regular serving opportunities, the monthly “2ndSaturday” event engages large volunteer groups for construction, home restoration, and special projects.
